Not one of OMC's best moments for me. Throw in the fact that "Rational Gaze" is one of Meshuggah's best tracks of alltime. Winner: Meshuggah

Meshuggah all the way. This is the first song I ever heard from them and one of the best. Too bad that the rest of "Nothing" pretty much just sounds like a lesser version of this.

I could barely take a minute of that Meshuggah song. Like Revenge of the Fallen and Battlefield Earth, you know it's going to be awful from the start. I'd have chosen a different song off of Ill-Natured, but it beats the Meshuggah track without question. OMC.

Rational Gaze.

Dream Ghost was a bit of a snore.
N00bs: I could go for a tapeworm right about now.
Amok: Wasn't that your punchline before you got hog tied and gang banged on the porn set of 'A Bucket Full of Wiener pt.2'?

Rational Gaze...Not by much though. It was a little punchier and interesting. The keyboard parts in Dream Ghost were pretty cool but I wished it changed up a bit more.

the score so far:

Rational Gaze- 4
Dream Ghost- 1

Rational Gaze. Not a huge Meshuggah fan, but they have some killer songs, and this being one of them....and definitely not one of Old Man Child's best...

Same here but ive never been a big fan of that album or that particular song. Had it been anything off of "In Defiance of Existence" i would of voted for them.

It is funny how people's taste in music goes. I like every OMC album, But
"Ill Natured" is by far my favorite.

But then I can not stand Galder's other band Dimmu.

Meshuggah destroys. They make hard shit sound easy and still keep it crazy heavy. OMC is was just eh
I like to be really high.

Rational Gaze, its one Meshuggah song i really like. after listening to it again i want to make a song interpretation of it, lol

You know you are a doomster when you volunteer for a session at the Samaritans and all the callers kill themselves... including the guy with the wrong number.

Meshuggah seems like a band that you should like given certain changes made. The same could be said for me.

Old Man's Child was engaging, dark and didn't have Meshuggah's vocalist. It wins.

I thought that Meshuggah was boring until I started listening to it and trying to figure it out like a musical Rubick's Cube.

And I love Rubick's Cubes.

I don't see whats so hard to figure out about Meshuggah. In Rational Gaze for example there aren't that many moving parts. Not alot of nuance, just the approach is unconventional (hitting notes you wouldn't expect)...End result it sounds weird which is the objective...I think...Not so much "hey I really have a melody in there you just have to listen to it backwards". For the most part I think they are pretty good with some pretty interesting riffs and sounds.

the score so far:

Rational Gaze- 8
Dream Ghost- 2
"for all who draw the sword will die by the sword." Jesus

I still don't see why people are voting for this Meshuggah song.
There isn't much to the writing there isn't a flow, actually there isn't much of anything.
Conversely The Dream Ghost, rocks and has great continuity, and just a great overall feel to it. Oh well, people like what they like.

Rational Gaze has so much flow it's ridiculous. It's all subjective.
