| Fear Factory So yea, been a long time fan of this band. Love albums like "Soul of a New Machine and Demanufacture". Obviously, i love the song "Resurrection" off of "Obsolete". Havent been that intrigued with the band since Dino left as it seemed the band was seriously missing him much like Sepultura without Max. The "Transgression" album was a absolute travisty. However......... it has come to my attention that the band is making another run. I can see the sighs and oh noes already. But, Dino is back in the fold and together with Bell they have added the use of Stroud once again and my boy Hoglan on drums. The new album is due out in 2010 so you will end up seeing my rating at some point in the next couple of months. Never the less, a new track is up called "Powershifter". Sounds more along the lines of "Obsolete" and "Digimortal" but seems far more promising that the last opus. Enjoy. New Fear Factory Song Streaming! | ZOINKS.TV |

i really hate when they attempt to be melodic and the singer tries to, you know, sing... but really the drummer here is amazingly talented and probably a robot in disguise and nobody sounds like them. at least not for the first few years they were out. originality is key. somehow they made dozens of cool songs off of rhythms alone without sounding like hardcore breakdowns.

That song in particular isnt. But "Edgecrusher", "Resurrection", "Descent", and "Cars" are easily MTV candy type songs. And for the record, just because its commercial doesnt mean its bad. People need to get over that shit already.

Yeah, Resurrection and Descent are commercial. Why? Because they are good easy songs to listen to that ANYONE could like, even if they don't like metal. Edgecrusher is your standard metal single. It still rocks. If anything, the worst songs on the record are the more "metal" stuff like "Freedom or Fire" or "Obsolete". The album is at it's best when it focuses on songwriting. Too bad that Campbell is a shit singer live.

Being commercial isn't a bad thing--I like some latter Sentenced quite a bit. But there is a certain sound that divides fan bases and increases fan bases. SoaNM is a solid slab of inventive grind. They lost that edge after that CD and played songs that appealed to more people ( this happens when the heaviness drops down a notch and the songs get slower and less esoteric ), the sling shot being the song Zero Tolerance that appeared on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack. If someone listened to that song and everything off of Obsolete and then listened to SoaNM, they wouldn't be able to tell it was from the same band. That's all i was getting at, so chill, like enraged's beard. For the record, the people I know that liked FF's catalogue and more mainstream music always stay away from one CD, FF's debut.

First FF blew me away, but I was torched after Demanufacture! Such a well oiled machine FF was back then. I could hardly get used to Obsolete, but there are some killer tunes on it. The fourth... meh. In the meantime I have seen them four times, the first two shows ('93 and '96) were a blast, the third sucked big time and the fourth (Wacken 06) was OK, but not special. Just nice to see FF again, that's all. These are my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZtj-wN404A played it helluvalottatimes. Still great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcywPUrE9sE the intro is awesome and the first riffs chill my bones. Burton was so blunt these days.. but this one still can blow some speakers at my place: [neat clip as well] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WC2-VYjWyIk The band back together is a good thing, but I wonder how long the law-stuff goes on between a. Burton/Dino vs. b. Raymond/Christian. Herrera is a great drummer, but Gene Hoglan ist Krieg!!! I will check the new FF out, I never got to hear anything between Digimortal and errr... 2009.

so yeahhh, umm new FF is actually pretty good. Nice vocal melodies. cool rhythms, good production. Not amazing, but I never though FF was. Mechanize is just FF at their best, which is pretty good. 8/10 haha.... worst album review ever
