xp password trouble - Metal-R.US

so i have a computer with windows xp on it and i dont "remember" the password. does anybody know any good tricks other than using a bootable disk?

ive already tried booting in safe mode, and i would reinstall windows but the computer has swapable drive and i dont have the cd-rom drive. just a floppy (this makes things suck). so any kinda cd fixes are out. the only thing i can think of is boot from a floppy. but i have an imac with no floppy drive...so i cant create a bootable floppy.

am i screwed?

Get tweakui from Micro$oft, search on their site and it will pop up. It's got some settings to remember passwords and such...

So you booted it in safe mode, and couldn't get into the administrator account either? By default that doesn't even have a password.

yeah, well its not set to the default right now. ie...administrator has a password. which i dont "remember".

have you got a usb boot disk? that might work instead of the cds or floppies

allegeedly there is a security hole that allows you access to cmd line from a boot up disk

Well I can tell you how to reset the root password in linux, but Windows... never tried. But what helvete said seems to follow the same principle.
