Firefox

Ok, the site in itself works fine but everything above the forums isn't there. There is no logo, there are not links to profile etc. I know they are here as they start to load then just disapear leaving nothing but the grey skin colour.

Thanks -[OS]-

Well I use Firefox and I'm not experiencing any of the same problems that you are, so I don't know what's up with that..

Do you have any extensions that might block images?

Check if you accidentally got "Block images from metal-r.us" activated by right-clicking on an image box. It's the only way I can reproduce it. You might also want to check firewall settings.

I would also like to know if it happens before you login with your account. I tried to create an account on a computer that has never touched the site before and even that didn't have any problems and I used both Firefox and IE...

Yes, it happened befor. Also, I don't even have image boxes in Firefox, there is litteraly nothing. I also can't see the avitars.

Update: Problem solved, I turned my firewall off, acessed the site, got the images. Then turned it back on, now everything works fine.

That was very strange over the past years I have been on 10's maybe even 100 forums by now with the same firewall and ive never had this.

I'm a hardcore Firefox user but I really haven't run into this problem before. What firewall do you use? If any...

I use Norton, I know it has its problems but its the easyest.

Oh, sorry and again, just to bug you. I now have the images as I said but once I turn the firewall back on it doens't let any new images in. Eg avitars from people I hadn't loaded up whilst the firewall was off.

Try another firewall, Zone Alarm is just as easy as Norton and less buggy, perhaps other people got better recommendations as I'm a Linux user...

Zone Alarm is really good. I have no problems with it, and I would recommend it to everyone.

I had ZA for a period of about three months, I can honestly say its the worst firewall I have ever come in contact with, but maybe thats just me eh?

Never, mind, I have the text and thats all I need really. On the bright side, not having avitars etc actualy makes brousing alot faster. Anways, thanks for your help.

I found some instructions how to setup Norton Firewall to display images so you can enjoy the full content of the site:
Quote:
CHANGING NORTON FIREWALL SETTINGS SO THAT YOU CAN SEE IMAGES:
1) Go to Norton Firewall Config main screen
2) Double-click "Privacy Control", you'll get the "Norton Firewall Privacy Control Screen".
3) On that screen, click "Advanced"
4) On the "Advanced" screen, scroll down under web contents options until you get to the domain/site (i.e. http://www.metal-r.us or other sites) and click it once to select.
5) Under "Information About Visited Sites" uncheck default, and set it to "Permit".
6) Click ok on both that screen and the "Advanced" screen.

OR:

1) Go to Norton Firewall Config main screen.
2) Click on the "Options" menu at the top of the screen and choose "Internet Security."
3) Click on the "Web Content Tab."
4) Under "Global Settings," find the box labeled "Information about visited sites." Click the "Permit" radio button in this section.
5) Click the "OK" button to save your changes.
